The
5th Annual South Florida Improv Jam (SFIJ 5),
was held on Saturday, August 19,
in Miami at the Miami Museum of
Science and Planetarium Theatre, and hosted by
Just The Funny.
Once again raising money for charity,
proceeds from SFIJ 5 benefited
Children's Home Society of South Florida.
Organized by David
Christopher, SFIJ 5 continued the tradition of bringing
together South Florida's Improv Community through collective
performance and workshop instruction.
The
5th South Florida Improv Jam
continued the tradition of using a pure jam format, in a 2 hour
30 minute show
comprising of 4 mixed-cast "mini-troupes," performing improv and
sketch comedy showcases, and directed by one member of each
of the troupes involved.
SFIJ 5 featured cast members
and directors from South Florida improv and sketch comedy
troupes
Gated Community, Impromedy,
Improv Yourself!, Just The Funny,
Mod 27,
They Improv,
and Under Construction.
SFIJ 5 also featured
FREE improv and sketch comedy workshops offered to the
general public earlier in the day, a first for the South
Florida Improv Jam!
SFIJ
5 was a phenomenal success, selling out the Miami
Museum of Science and Planetarium, while keeping audience members
rolling in the aisles with a fantastic blend of short form improv, long
form improv, and sketch comedy, with a quick group jam to
end the show. |
